Historically, there is official trace of the name “spaghetto” in the first Italian dictionary by Nicolò Tommaseo and Bernardo Bellini (1819). Here spaghetti is inserted as a “singular masculine diminutive of string” and the “Spaghetti Soup: which are the consistency of a small string and long, like the superchargers” is mentioned.
