Their name naturally refers to the format and derives from the Latin 'vulgar tortillare' which literally means to spiral wrap with a characteristic design lathe workmanship.

They are a particularly versatile format and at the same time original, which traditionally prefers full-bodied condiments.

Tortiglioni are excellent when served with succulent meat-based ragùs. Also good with tomato sauces or vegetable and tomato sauces. It is a particularly suitable format for baked pies.
